This is almost exactly what I went through when I left Shelley in 2002. I had a “year out” with an option to go back. I knew I wasn’t going back though! It was a huge leap in the dark going freelance but I’ve never regretted it. I’ve been all sorts of places and met all sorts of people. I still have very fond memories of Shelley, but I had to go.
As for rules, I revise them virtually every week!! I’m so pleased everything is working out for you, well deserved success! I’ve got my book ordered and paid for…can’t wait. All the very best. Steven. X
Ahhh thank you so much, Mr Downs! It's always great to hear a success story. I don't think anyone ever regrets taking a risk in favour of their personal development in the long-term - even if it fails, you will get *something* out of it, and you can keep trying and trying until you get to where you want to be. Hooray! x
Hi Laura. Really brave decision to have given up a good job to go freelance and I'm sure you don't regret it. After losing Tricia last year it put my like in to perspective and I thought abut taking early retirement, which I did do in December I haven't bought the book yet but I will. xx
Ah that's a brilliant idea Graham, I'm glad you did it and I hope you're making the most of your time! Can't believe it's been nearly a year since the Lakes. Hope you're well x
In retrospect, this is a very good question. I suppose I do quite a lot of staring out of the window when I'm supposed to be working, but surely having clean windows would only hinder me further, so who knows. Anyway, this is actually one rule I did obey, and it was marvellous for about two weeks...
I may be self-employed, but I *do* get dressed every day — but mainly because my wife has an absolute horror of anyone spending all day in their pyjamas…
Adam, I have the utmost respect for you! (Generally speaking, I change out of my pyjamas and into something slightly more respectable but just as comfy)
I'm good thanks Laura and hope you are keeping well. At my apartment in Turkey this week to sort a couple of things out.
Thanks Laura. By the way, I haven’t been Mr Downs since July 2002! It’s Steven now!😂
You'll always be Downsy to me

All I could think of while reading this was exactly how dirty are your windows for them to make the rules?!
