Hi Laura So sorry to hear this news. Thanks for being honest and bringing what to say / not to say to the fore when friends/ family are diagnosed with cancel so that we can all support each other appropriately. Hope to see you soon. Love Elaine (Kingston friend of Mark’s et al) x
Hi Laura I’m really sorry to hear what you’ve been going through. I met you in Holmfirth at your book launch and was a bit of an emotional wreck (sorry about that!). Having had breast cancer myself I not only really enjoyed your book, but as an individual I found you extremely inspirational. The way you’re laying it all out there for people to read is particularly brave and so so helpful to others. I hope everything goes well with the operation and you have a speedy recovery. One day at a time… Danielle xx
I’m so sorry to hear your news, Laura. I just wanted to say I love how you write with such openness. That’s such a gift. I’ve followed your freelance journey through your newsletter, podcast and 50 best and food posts and bought, read and enjoyed your book and they are all so, so good. You are an inspiration. I still remember those amazing brownies you made at WR to raise money for a charity trek too. I’m sure you were sick of making them but they were 👌🏻I have to say I found Single Bald Female was particularly poignant as my dad died from cancer (which he lived with for 10+ years) last year. It helped with the grieving process so thank you. I will be following your work as you continue to do incredible things xx
Emma, thank you so much for the lovely note. I'm so sorry to hear about your dad, but so pleased my writing has helped in some way. Hope to see you again some day - and thanks for the reminder to start making brownies again! xx
Oh Laura, I am a friend of your Mums and when she put your post on I think I must have been drifting on another planet and did not read it and appreciate the gravity of it all!! So here I am with my love and support for you and your loved ones! Am I am right in thinking you are the girlie with the humbug cats she looks after? We share horror stories of yours and my daughters cat Meg, who loves to bring the wild life in, always alive, for me to chase around the house to retrieve! I have a lot of catching up to do with your book and pod casts, but I will! Hopefully with Chris to, as I haven't been to the gym for a while so am a little out of touch! Love and hugs Cathy xx
Laura I am sorry to hear this news. We worked together a long time ago. I've been following your story and was inspired and amazing by your pivot into food writing. I shared the post and bought the book. Enjoy Portugal and your birthday. Would love to catch up some day.
Oh Laura, I’m so sorry to hear this as I’ve been following your story on Huff Post ever since I was diagnosed with breast cancer last year.
Your insight, determination and unique Va Va Voom shine through every word, and like all your readers, I’ll be holding your hand virtually through this next chapter.
Tilt your head towards the sun and keep shining. xx
Hi Laura, i’m so sorry to hear this and know what a disappointment it is when you should be celebrating remission to get bad news. I had my first 2 cancers at 27 and my third one diagnosed on my five year anniversary. I’ve just managed my 10 year anniversary clear, but i always get that sensation of borrowed time. I will keep everything crossed for you and hope that all will be well xx
I'm so sorry, this is such shocking news. You have had to cope with so much in your life - you do so with grace and dignity. I hope next time our writing group meets in person you will sign my copy of Single Bald Female, I loved it. Much love, Vanessa.
What bloody rubbish news, so sorry. Your reflection on your intense week of grief and love though sounded beautiful. I’ve read your blog almost since the beginning. I was diagnosed a few months after you at 28 and your updates really kept me going through it all. I’m coming up to my 10 years too and reading your news did give me a bit of a jolt. It’s just something that hangs over us but your whole approach and outlook is something you must be so proud of, certainly a life well lived and will continue to be for many years to come as you say. Good luck with the second time round and I’ll be keenly following your posts. Just ordered the book :) Amy
Wow, thank you so much Amy - honestly, it means so much to me to hear from people who have been reading my words since the beginning. I tried to tell the others I know who have had breast cancer in advance because I know how much of a wrench to the heart it is when you hear someone else's cancer has returned via social media, so I'm sorry I missed you. Wishing you all the health and happiness and eternal thank you for buying the book! xx
